"Never in the field of human conflict has so much been owed by so many to so few."
-Winston Churchill
September 1st 1939 is the agreed upon date that WWII started. This was probably one of the most devastating of the wars, WWII impacted millions of people all over the world. America did not want to get involved in this war. They supported their allies but wanted to stay out of it. That was the case until the Japanese made their attack on Pear Harbor. This was when America officially joined WWII. On the other side of the world in Germany on January 30th 1933 Adolf Hitler became Chancellor of Germany. Nobody knew what this man would have to offer to WWII. The Holocaust was a major factor in the war. Millions of innocent people died and suffered.
The woman of WWII were a very good war effort, they helped do many things, and without them maybe the armed forces wouldn't have been able to do what they did. The ending of this war was on May 8, 1945 when Germany finally surrendered. This was a very big step toward recovery. Germany's economy was falling into a very bad state because of war debts. |
